HISTORY

Considered the highest form of the British knife maker’s art, our original Fairbairn Sykes knives and accessories encompass every element of time and care that one would expect in any heritage brand’s core collection.

The F-S fighting knife was developed by William Ewart Fairbairn and Eric Anthony Sykes during their time serving with the Shanghai Municipal Police in China. In November of 1940 the two gentlemen contacted the British war Ministry regarding their idea for the new fighting knife, which was passed onto Sir John Wilkinson - Latham i order to help conceptualize their design further.

In January of 1941 an initial batch of fifty F-S fighting knives, was ordered by Captain Leslie J. C. Wood for the delivery to the SOE station at Knebworth. Wood was responsible for the production and development of arms for the secret service, the commandos and other special forces at the time.

From that day forth the F-S Fighting Knife or the commando dagger has become a symbol of Britain's unparalleled skill and precision as a global unit.
